In general a more pure blue hue is desirable and when a stone strays further from blue it s less valuable. Only a few gemstones have a color that is so familiar.

The most desirable kyanite gemstones exhibit a sapphire like blue color but most stones will display noticeable light and dark color zoning along with some white streaks or blotches.
Its vitreous to pearly luster makes it a very attractive gemstone. Turquoise is found in dry climates in the rocks above copper deposits. But it is also said that wearing only blue can make one tired and depressed.
Turquoise is a copper mineral with a bright blue to blue green color. Blue sapphires with slight violet hues are still top color. Sapphire is the ultimate representation of blue gemstones and has consistently remained one of the four precious stones in the world along with diamond ruby and emerald.
There are also much lighter or softer blue stones with the most common of the lighter stones being topaz and aquamarine. The most common blue stone is a sapphire however the deep blue color can also be found in other gemstones such as kyanite lapis lazuli and zircon.
